Defense Sexual Assault Incident Database (DSAID)

Overview

Developed to meet requirements set forth in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2009 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the Defense Sexual Assault Incident Database (DSAID) is the Department’s authoritative, centralized case-level database used to collect and maintain information on sexual assaults involving members of the Armed Forces, including tracking and reporting on sexual assault-related retaliation data. DoD SAPRO operates DSAID and works collaboratively with the Services to implement and sustain the system.

Sexual Assault Response Coordinators (SARCs) use DSAID to provide comprehensive and standardized victim case management. Additionally, the DoD uses DSAID to conduct oversight, inform Department and Service-level SAPR program planning and analysis, and meet Congressional reporting requirements.

Safeguarding Information

DoD SAPRO is committed to safeguarding sensitive information. Sound security measures are in place to protect access and information contained in the database. DSAID complies with DoD and federal regulations regarding information assurance, privacy, and records management.

DoD launched the File Locker to better protect and secure victims’ documents. The File Locker utility adds a layer of security to the forms uploaded into DSAID. SARCs access the File Locker in DSAID to store and retrieve DD Forms 2910 for victims of sexual assault to provide documentation to the Department of Veterans Affairs, or if they have lost their copy. Victims can request a copy of their form from their SARC or SAPR VA. Individuals seeking access to records about themselves should address written inquiries using this guidance.

User Access and Support

The DSAID user community is limited to only those individuals with roles that require access to the database, such as headquarters Service SAPR Program Managers, SARCs, and headquarters Service Legal Officers. SARCs should contact their respective Service SAPR office for guidance on their specific role and need for access.

Individuals seeking access to DSAID must complete both the DSAID Basic and SARC online trainings. These web-based courses are available 24/7, worldwide on Joint Knowledge Online (JKO).
